Starter Builds for Flowers and Deities

Three jobs, not three shopping lists carved in stone.

Starter Builds

These starter builds are jobs. They use names from the public demo run and from Steam notes. They will not match your exact Tower roll. If a guide ever tells you that one specific heroic axe is required, close it. Flowers and Deities is a shop game. The job is the thing you can repeat.

Lock the pair on Origins and Faiths and tick the boxes on the run planner before you start.

Dodge tribe (Tribal Survivor + Quetzalcoatl)

Front. Beast-Marked blade wielders if you still have them; otherwise the highest dodge melee the origin hands you. They live because they are not hit, and they hit twice when injured if the trait says so.

Second. Skirmishers or clubs for stun and charge. Give them a lane. Do not bury them behind a wall they cannot Reach through.

Back. Poison darters, then veterans when the shop allows. Launch made ranged packs smaller and slower. Quality over mass.

Blood sink. Rain-style heals and the dodge aura. You want the wall to stand, not to fertilize shades.

Loot tags. Light armor, swords and daggers, bows if the darters are earning Favor. Skip legendary heavy armor even when the node screams at you.

Blessings. On-dodge buffs, crit from dodge, timed heals. Decline armor-hate crit bonuses if you later mix in a captured heavy.

This is the recorded public run. It is not the only good 1.0 plan. It is the best documented one.

Servant castle (Destitute Noblewoman + heal faith)

Front. Shield bearers and the named slave. They exist to be cheap and numerous. 1.0’s Slave Hunting can add more bodies; do not replace the cheap ones until promotions make elites affordable to deploy.

Second. Spears or feathered warriors with Reach.

Back. Slingers. Stun chance on slings was a demo modifier; if your build still has it, keep a sling even when a bow looks prettier.

Blood sink. Encouragement and heals. You will lose servants on purpose. That is the faith tax, not a mistake, as long as the wall reforms.

Loot tags. Shields, cheap armor slots, anything that adds a slot to a servant who currently wears nothing.

Failure mode. Capturing three jaguar demons and deleting the cheap Favor fillers. Then series three has no one left to click.

Flayed butcher (any sturdy origin + Flayed Lord)

Front. A unit that can wear wound and death items without folding in two seconds. Iron Bulwark is the obvious castle. Tribal Survivor can do it if you accept dirtier trades.

Second. Reach that keeps the wounded enemy in the puddle.

Back. Whatever generates or spends corpses: blood-letter rituals, shade statues, underworld summons.

Blood sink. Wound transfer, Bloodshades, on-kill heals. Read How Blood Works twice.

Loot tags. Flayed relics, death ornaments, spears that mention blood harvest. A clean stomp that sheds no blood is a failed node for this faith even if you win.

Failure mode. Sacrificing the only wall because the arena “looked dry.” Dry means you needed a messier deploy, not a suicide.

How to graduate a starter

After the first promotion, you may capture something that breaks the job in a useful way: thunder priests, Temple Greatbows, a legendary jaguar hide. Keep the job and hire the capture as a specialist. If the capture demands a second Forge identity, park it in reserve until the campaign actually needs a magic answer.

Check the Units Tier List when you cannot tell whether a veteran is an upgrade or a Favor tax. Check Blessings when the draft tries to sell you weather instead of a finisher.

Do not run all three jobs in one profile. That is how a three-hour campaign becomes an inventory novel. Pick one, finish the 6×5, then replay.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from the current Steam build.

Is Tribal Survivor the best origin?

It is the best recorded one. Noble and Bulwark plans are valid. We do not crown a 1.0 god pick with two days of Steam reviews.

Can I mix dodge and Flayed Lord?

Yes, if you accept dirtier fronts. Your loot tags will fight. Decide which shop node you will refuse in advance.

What if the Tower never sells blade wielders?

Buy the next highest dodge melee and keep the job. Named units are examples, not keys.

When should I abandon a starter build?

After a finished campaign, or after the same hole appears in two series and a capture can fill it without a second religion.
